Queanbeyan / Jerrabomberra

Just a few kilometres from the ACT border, Queanbeyan & Jerrabomberra provide a viable alternative to living in the national capital while still being close enough to be able to benefit from all the facilities that Canberra has to offer. Jerrabomberra is a relatively new community, with construction beginning in the late 1980s. Thanks to its rapid growth, Jerrabomberra is now home to almost 10,000 residents.
From what used to be considered a small town, Queanbeyan and Jerrabomberra have become examples of city living. Both areas have many options for dining out, for every occasion and cuisine.
The Queanbeyan Markets take place on the 3rd Sunday of each month, and there are also markets in Braidwood, Bungendore and Captains Flat for anyone who would be instrested in a day (or a half-day) trip. The Googong Foreshores is closer to home and ideal for an outdoor excursion with the family, for a picnic, birdwatching, sailing, or more.
Queanbeyan is a thriving regional centre with a strong sporting culture. Many famous Australian sporting icons have hailed from Queanbeyan and it was also the original birthplace of the Canberra Raiders. There are a number sports teams and facilities in the region for sports such as tennis, cricket, netball and rugby league, as well as a golf course and bowls club.
'The Q' is the Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre, which is a creative hub for the community. Performances, such as orchestras, theatrics and plays, are held there, as well as visual art exhibitions and events.
The Queanbeyan Rodeo occurs every year, and is a community favourite. There are a number of car shows throughout the year, and the ActewAGL Queanbeyan Show takes place in November.
