Established in 1964, Woden has enjoyed a revitalisation in recent years. A hive of business, health and education, Government Departments including Health and Ageing and Veterans’ Affairs are based in Woden, The Canberra Hospital and various aged care facilities and the Canberra Institute of Technology.
The Woden Town Centre offers an abundance of shopping, cinemas and dining options with Westfield Woden being a large drawcard. Several major clubs and recreational facilities also add to an extensive list of activities on offer, including Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre.
Woden has a mix of suburban and apartment living, with the added benefits of established nature reserves nearby including Mount Taylor, Isaacs Ridge and Farrer Ridge.

The Woden Valley is dotted with hidden gems throughout the region, for all meals of the day, so there’ll always be fantastic local spots close to you.
Westfield Woden is in the heart of the region and is the commercial hub of the Woden Valley. The Phillip Swimming & Ice-skating Centre which has been open since 1980, and the recently opened Escape Rooms in Phillip are both popular spots. The Oakey Hill Nature Reserve is a great place for a scenic trek.
The Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre is the home of the Canberra Brave, Canberra’s AIHL team. There are plenty of gyms in the region, including the newly built Stellar Canberra health & wellness centre. For when you want to get outside, Eddison park has great BBQ and playground facilities, and there are many local parks, ovals and reserves around the region.
The Southside Farmer's Markets are held on Sunday mornings, which always has a great selection of fresh, regional and seasonal produce.
The Canberra Hospital is in Garren. There are many public and private schools in the region, as well as a CIT campus.
